While there is a plethora of content on men's suits, little exists on the types of women's suits. And for some women, suits are simply a work necessity but not part of their favorite wardrobe.
So this is Sene's guide to building a tailoring wardrobe - what are the core essentials, what to buy, and in what order, to most economically cover your event bases and get maximum bang for your fashion buck.
What is a women's suit called?
A pantsuit or pant suit, also known as a trouser suit in Europe, is a woman's suit of clothing consisting of pants and a matching or coordinating coat or jacket. This term arose as a way to distinguish from the prevailing fashion for women of wearing a coat paired with a skirt.
1. The Essential Two-Piece Suit
It can be hard to find the perfect women’s suit. If you can only have one suit, this is the one - it will work across work, evening drinks or wearing blazer and pants as separates.
Jacket: we recommend a slightly longer jacket that hangs a tad farther down the hip with tailored pants. You'll want to make sure the buttons on the sleeve are functional - it is a sign of construction quality and equips the jacket to have a more casual vibe as it allows you to roll up the sleeves. The end result is a casual yet sleek presentation.
Pants: we recommend a happy medium between tight fit and loose. Of course, the fit is still up to customer preference. For this type of suit, you'll want a medium waist - not too high and not too low.
In Sene's women suiting collection, the Melrose Blazer is a classic two-button women's blazer. You can give new life to classic silhouettes by jazzing it up with surprising fabrics.
Our Melrose Suit features our signature FlexTech fabric, making it the ultimate travel suit custom-made with athleisure fabric. Features four way stretch, moisture wicking technology and even machine washability.
2. The Double-Breasted Fashion Suit
This suit is a statement. With a more casual and straighter silhouette, it's perfect if you work in a more casual and/or fashion-forward environment.
The oversized lapels give it a bold look, and you can relax it in an everyday setting paired with sneakers.
