How did you get started with Instagram?
Why do you do it and why do you think you gained the following that you have? Instagram was just a fun little app with vintage filters and frames that I challenged myself to get creative with. I pushed myself to see things differently and post something once a day that was “Instagram-worthy.” When I moved to Chicago, Instagram was in its infancy and since I didn’t know anybody, it was a great way to meet + shoot with other photographers in the city. Hopefully people enjoy my point of view or way I see the world!
Tell us a little bit about your background. How did you end up in Chicago?
I was born & raised in Dallas and I went to the University of Texas down in Austin. After school, I wanted to make a move, but wasn’t ready to move to the east or west coast. Call it wanderlust, but I was fascinated with Chicago although I had never been. It was a risky move, but at the time.. I didn’t think twice about it.
What do you do outside of Instagram?
I’m a photographer, model, avid traveler and run a menswear blog, The Risky Jackal!
What are your favorite places to hang in Chicago?
I live near Lake Michigan and in the warmer months you can find me on the lake or running/biking on Lake Shore Trail. My favorite cocktail bar is Drumbar and Old Town Ale House is my favorite dive spot with a great jukebox.
What’s something people who only know you thru Instagram would be surprised to know?
I have a twin (sister, not identical) and I love cooking!
